It takes two

I don't know about you but my car is my safe place. It's the place where I laugh and cry and bring everything to the Lord.

Now that I live in Phoenix, I am used to lots of traffic and sitting in the car for very long periods of time.

But instead of me becoming angry at the amount of cars that are at a standstill around me and the increasing urge to honk and be angry, God has used my small little car in the midst of traffic to be a place where I sing praises and talk with my loving Father.

You know when you are on a road trip with your best friends and it is just a sweet time full of good conversation?

That's how I picture it with God.

I Imagine Him sitting shotgun, and laughing along with me but also giving me comfort when I need it.

I love singing praises to Him, and I can just imagine Him sitting their in the passenger seat, smiling.

My car is my safe place, a place where I meet with God.

I think it is important to have that safe place to meet with God.

Whether it be in your living room, in your closet, or even on your knees beside your bed.

God wants to meet with us.

He has loved us ever since the beginning, and continues to pursue us even when He feels rejected by us.

So my question to you is, where is your safe place?

"Hear my cry, O God. Listen to my prayer.

I call to You from the end of the earth when my heart is weak.

Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

For You have been a safe place for me,

a tower of strength where I am safe from

those who fight against me.

Let me live in Your tent forever.

Let me be safe under the covering of Your wings."

-Psalm 61:1-4

In God's presence we are safe.

God is always present (omnipresent) in our lives, we just need to acknowledge His presence.

If your schedule is busy and you find it hard to meet with God.

Schedule time with Him.

Schedule time to journal, read your Bible, sing praises, prayer, or however you worship and talk with God.

DO IT.

Because in order to keep a relationship healthy, it requires communication, acknowledgement, love, and EFFORT.

We have relationships on earth that we hangout with, laugh with, cry with, pray with, and grow with.

The same calls for our relationship with God.

A relationship requires a two-way effort.

God is already putting in the effort and pursuing you, and He is leaving it open for you to pursue Him back.

It takes two.

Pursue God and your relationship with Him.

Because, in the end, our relationship with God is greater than any relationship that we have on earth.

We must pour into our relationship with God as much as we do with our other relationships.

We must realize that God comes FIRST.

Dear God,

I pray that we will find that place where we feel safe, a place to meet with you.

I pray that we will put you before all of our plans and to-dos each day.

& that you will come before any other relationship that we have here on earth

I pray that you will forgive us for the times we reject you and put other people and things first

I pray that you will fill us with your love and your presence

Remind us that you consistently pursue us, and you never give up on us.

Remind us of your unconditional love.

We love you so much and acknowledge all that you have done for us,

Thank you God that you love us despite of our failures and imperfections.

Thank you God that we can have a relationship with you.

In your name, we pray, Amen.
